Juanita Craft, a remarkable person whose legacy of activism spanned fifty years.  Beginning her work in the 1930s as a field organizer for the NAACP, Craft helped found 182 local chapters.  In 1946, she became the first black woman in Dallas County to vote as well as the first black woman elected to the Dallas City Council. Craft was instrumental in publicizing desegregation at the University of North Texas.
